The baked beans are amazing, and the wife absolutely loves their Mac N Cheese. We both ordered tri-tip, solid choice for sure. Light smokey flavor and cooked oh so well. Very tender and yum! Now, off to the highlight of my meal. Cinnibellies! OH MY LORD IN HEAVEN! They are AMAZEBALLS!!! The smell of them alone had me chomping at the bit to get at them. They were a little bit of heaven! Pork belly wrapped up like cinnamon rolls and coated in amazing goodness. The owner, Don, and his wife are great and chatted with us about the food and my obsession with hot sauce... Gave Don a recommendation to try one of my favorites, actually. ”

“ We are known as The Traveling Nomads so as usual, we are on the road again. During our travels, we like to try different small businesses and eateries, so we turned to Yelp to see what was around Westley. We almost skipped over Westley Bbq and Smokehouse, due to a lack of reviews and pictures. Well, I am really glad we decided to give them a try! Just a quick 7 minute drive off the freeway, in this small, mainly agricultural area, a small smokehouse sits with a smoker smoking away out front. Turns out they are not that reviewed because they just opened shop a couple of months ago! We almost missed this place, but it's right next to the Westley Hotel Steakhouse. In fact, they share a kitchen! I was a bit concerned when we walked in and were the only people there. This was at 5:15 on a Friday night. But not knowing the area, and the smoker smelling so good, we had to try it. We were greeted by a friendly lady who answered few questions we had and we ordered and took a seat. We both ordered the tri tip sandwich with their house made, family recipe Mac n cheese. I don't mind telling you I've smoked meats on a personal level for 30 years. I do it well and I know when I get it elsewhere if it's good or not. You can have a great sauce or rub, but if the meat is unable to stand on its own, if it is dry, if it is cooked at varying temperatures... the list goes on, you may as well just buy some sauce. Westley Bbq and Smokehouse knows how to do smoked meat RIGHT. With the smoker outside as I walked in, I looked at the temperature gauge on it. 195°F. Perfect. Low and slow. The tri tip was served on a soft hoagie roll. NOTHING on it! A small side of bbq sauce and pickles accompanied it. The Mac and cheese came in a 6 oz container. I looked at the meat and it looked perfectly cooked. A light pink in the middle and a very lightly charred edge. I picked a piece up and it easily pulled a part! Then it hit my mouth and my taste buds went to heaven. So rare do you find a place where absolutely no condiments are needed. This place is a rarity. Every bite kept me smiling and happy. The Mac and cheese was honestly the best either of us had ever had! A great blend of tender, cheesiness and crunch from the topping. Because it was so good, and the people were so nice, we spent a little time talking to them. They are Katie and Don and they opened this place after Don, who worked at the steakhouse, needed to focus solely on his bbq, rather than splitting his time cooking for the restaurant and running out to his smoker. He realized that, smoking meats takes hours and doing it right means monitoring your temperature and tending to your fire. So Don, aka Drop Top Donny, ( thanks to his classic convertible,) and wife Katie opened shop. Turns out when they moved to the area, Don started smoking at home again. The neighbors wanted to know what he was smoking and Don started sharing with them. Then the neighbors wanted more and were willing to pay good money for some! Don and Katie did some pop ups and love to cater events. Without getting in to too much more... they decided to open up this small shop and follow their passion. And I'm here to tell you, it shows. So listen, long story told long... and it could be longer... take the short drive off of the 5 and go see Don, the Smokeologist and Katie at Westley Bbq and Smokehouse. You will not be disappointed!!!! ”
